OJ Inspiration: François Cevert, a talented and beautiful driver

There are pilots who, despite being "pretty", are talented. François has plenty of you.

Before James Hunt, in Formula 1 you had François Cevert, a true sports playboy. His life was destined for music — a great pianist capable of composing great works. However, the destination reserved another path.

Jean Pierre Beltoise, his wife's husband, is now pausing for speed. At the age of 16, François was already racing in borrowed karts on the streets of Paris, swearing to death that one day he would become Formula 1 world champion.

In 1969, François returned to Formula 2. That same year, to a divided category or box on more than one occasion with his very earliest arrival, to Formula 1. It was during one of these races that Cevert had a tough fight against Jackie Stewart, the current main category champion at the time and main driver of the Tyrell team.

Or result? Cevert, recommended by Jackie Stewart, joined Tyrell and spent three years learning from this incomparable mentor.

The final celebration would be held at the Watkins Glen circuit, in New York . That day, Jackie Stewart would win his 100th Grand Prix and would stay forever, giving rise to Cevert as the future promise of Formula 1 at the time.

Jackie deixaria Cevert overcome… “É como passar a tocha para meu irmãozinho…” ele disse.

But the tragedy happened on October 6. In qualifying before the race, François Cevert went to the track and made every effort to achieve the best time, knowing that in pole position he could guarantee victory...

In the afternoon I was checking out the New York circuit. Classification was completed and the last pilots were gathered at their bases to rest and eat something. Suddenly, a violent roar was heard, breaking the tranquility of the afternoon: "He or Cevert, damn, he or Cevert"... "He is serious, very serious."

Stewart runs to the accident site. "I was paralyzed with horror. There was smoke and steam everywhere... and I'm still in prison with my safety belt, "He was my teammate, my protected, my friend, my strong man... He was dead."

You are glad that he granted so many gifts a singular destiny reserved for François Cervera on October 7, 1973. Not the next year, or Apollo with deep blue eyes would complete thirty years.

François, as a source of inspiration for us – gave our shirt collection with his name ( https://oldjeffrey.com/search?q=cevert ) – He always repeated the same phrase:

"I take advantage of every moment of my life, it is almost uncreditable. There are very few things that I do not like to do. Therefore, I am the happiest man in the world."
